Guidelines for Submitting Meaningful Samples with Your Proposal
To help the LKY Fund for Bilingualism evaluate proposals effectively, all applicants are required to submit project-specific samples alongside their applications. These samples are essential in helping us understand the proposed content’s quality, relevance, and potential impact.
Please note that a proposal is not a portfolio. Samples must be directly related to the project being proposed, not general showcases of past work.
Why Are Samples Important?
Samples help us to:
Assess the quality, tone, and content of proposals
Understand how the proposal will be executed
Evaluate age-appropriateness, bilingual relevance, and engagement potential
Make a fair and informed decision
What Does Not Qualify As A Meaningful Sample?
Avoid submitting:
Generic portfolios or unrelated past work
Conceptual outlines without any tangible examples
'To be developed' placeholders
Mood boards or inspirational ideas with no original content

A strong sample should:
Be specific and relevant to the proposed project
Reflect the intended audience, tone, and purpose
Demonstrate feasibility and content direction

Help LKYFB officers assess content quality and suitability
Clarify tone, structure, language level, and bilingual approach
Show the difference between a concept and a ready-to-develop project
Strengthen the proposal’s credibility and feasibility
Children's Books (Ages 0-7)
